BHIM UDAS HONOURARY JORDAN CONSUL GENERAL Kathmandu, 11 Nov.: The Jordon Government has appointed Bhim Udas, founder of Non Resident Nepali Association (NRN-A) the Honorary Consular General for Nepal. The appointment made by the Jordon Government was endorsed by the Cabinet meeting recently, said Spokesperson of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Arjun Bahadur Thapa. Meantime, taking to the National News Agency (RSS) briefly, newly appointed honorary consular general Udas pledged to do his best to strengthen the relations existing between Nepal and Jordan. According to him, Jordan is an important hub for the market promotion of Nepali handicrafts. He said he would leave no stone unturned to bringing in direct foreign investment, promoting tourism sector and matters of bilateral interests during his term here. Diplomatic relation between Nepal and Jordon was established on August 20, 1965. Currently, some seven to nine thousand Nepalis are working in Jordan. nnnn MADHAV NEPAL ACCUSES MAOISTS OF OBSTRUCTION Kathmandu, 11 Nov.: CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has accused the incumbent government of causing obstructions in forging national consensus, RSS reports from Lalitpur.. The door to consensus would not open until and unless the incumbent government remained in power, he said, adding, "Exit of the government is the pre-condition for forging national consensus". Speaking at a greetings-exchange programme organised by the UML Lalitpur Constituency No-3 on the occasion of the Deepawali, Nepal Sambat 1133, Chhath and Lhosar on Sunday, leader Nepal said the opposition parties announced the programmes of protest against the government since consensus was not possible through talks. He opined that the President should refuse the budget likely to be brought by the government violating constitutional norms and values. "The new election cannot be held in April if the constitutional and legal difficulties to that end are not removed within November 30," said Nepal and urged the government to be serious towards this. He said, "Federalism along with identity and constitution along with federalism is the first voice of the CPN-UML". Also speaking on the occasion, another party leader Siddhi Lal Singh said the UML was not in favour of such federalism that jeopardizes the social harmony. nnnn
