CPN MAOIST CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEET RESUMES Kathmandu, 1 Nov.: CPN Maoist central committee resumed Thursday after a two-day adjournment. The meeting is discussing preparations for the first general convention 9 January 2013. Nnnn LEADERSHIP CHANGE ALONE CAN’T RESOLVE CRISIS Kathmandu, 1 Nov.:Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar has claimed that change of leadership alone cannot resolve the current political and constitutional crisis, RSS reports .from Janakpurdham “The national political crisis will not be resolved only by changing prime minister, political parties need to bring clear concepts for the date of fresh polls, ways to settle constitutional obstacles among others,” said Gachchhadar at a press meet organised by the Madheshi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic) Dhanusha District Committee on Thursday. Saying that political parties have been holding talks extensively, he further claimed that the nation will get political outlet within the end of November. He also said that the achievements gained from various movements would be lost if the senior leaders of the major political parties fail to resolve the current political stalemate. nnnn POLICE, HEMP TRAFFFICKERS EXCHANGE FIRE Kathmandu, 1 Nov.: Police and hemp smugglers have exchanged fire in Taregana Govindapur of Siraha district on Thursday morning, RSS reports from Siraha . A team led by Mitra Gurung, Police Sub-inspector at the Police Post, Maheshpur, and the hemp smugglers have exchanged fire in a paddy field at Taregana Govindapur VDC Ward No. 8. The police have also seized 150 kg of hemp from the site. “No human casualty has been reported though Police responded with three rounds of fire after the smugglers opened fire at the Police,” said Dhakendra Khatiwada, Police Inspector at the Ward Police Office, Lahan. Police search is underway to find the absconding smugglers, he added. nnnn EVEREST CONQUEST TO BE COMMEMORATED Kathmandu, 1 Nov.: The government has decided to mark the diamond jubilee of Mt. Everest conquest next year with celebrationm RSS reports.. “The celebration will mark the 60th year of the climbing of Mt. Everest by Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary,” informed Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Post Bahadur Bogati at a programme organized here by the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). Minister Bogati also urged tourism entrepreneurs to invest in tourism as the government has emphasized on the tourism development. He further said that new peaks in western region will soon be opened up for mountaineering and trekking. nnnn HORNET STING KILLS ONE Kathmandu, 1 Nov.: A person died and four others were injured after hornet stung them at Thangpalkot VDC in Sindhupalchowk district Wednesday night, RSS reports from Chautara. The deceased has been identified as Gayeen Tamang, 53, of Thangpalkot VDC-2. Man Singh Tamang, Bikas Tamang, Kainla Tamang, son of the deceased and 13-year-old grandson of the deceased were injured, according to a local Kumar Basnet. Gayeen died while undergoing treatment at Jorpati-based Teaching Hospital. Hornet stung them while they were trying to burn hornet-nest at the neighbouring Thangpaldhap VDC-2 on October 28. All the injured returned home after receiving treatment in the capital after primary treatment at a local Indrawati Public Service Committee. Nnnn
