MAOIST CHARGE AGAINST UML
Kathmandu, 3 Nov.: Spokesman of the Unified CPN (Maoist) Agni Sapkota has alleged that the CPN (UML) was involved in the game of instigating the President for going to power, RSS reports from Nepalgunj.
"First the prime minister's resignation and then only consensus, that is not possible. The prime minister would not allow the opposition parties' conspiracies to capture power to be successful by tendering resignation," the UCPN (Maoist) spokesman said while inaugurating the Revolutionary Journalists Association Tharuwan state level first conference here on Saturday.
Stating that the Nepali journalism should become a model for the world, Sapkota, who is also the chief of the UCPN (Maoist)'s publicity department, said that there is the need of revolution through journalism in the country.
Chief of the UCPN (Maoist) Tharuwan State Committee, Maheshwar Gahatraj said that there is a tussle going on between those who want change and those against change in the country at present. He called on the journalists to build public opinion in favour of change.
Central coordinator of the Association and president of the Working Journalists Minimum Pay Determination Committee, Govinda Acharya, demanded that the government should bring to book the media organizations not paying the minimum salary fixed by the committee.
Association advisor Narendra Jung Peter, president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Banke district chapter, Shukra Rishi Chaulagain, among other speakers stressed the need of unity among all journalists for promoting independent journalism.
Forty-eight representatives from Banke, Bardiya, Dang, Kailali and Kanchanpur, the districts under the Tharuwan State Committee, are participating in the conference. The conference will elect the Association's Tharuwan State committee's new leadership.
