FURTHER DETAILS ON BUDGET Kathmandu, 20 Nov.: Amid strong objections of the opposition, Prime Minister Buburm Bhattarai recommended to President Dr. Yadav promulgation of the budget for remaining eight months of the current fiscal year 2012/13. Opposition parties in a statement said ‘their serious attention has been drawn ‘ to the recommendation to the head of state ;sidelining talks and understanding’. The opposition also said unilateral election was made by a government that failed to conduct an announced national vote in the last week of November this year. ‘Door for consensus has been closed…,” said NC President Sushil Koirala. He called the government decision’ unilateral, objectionable and deceitful”. “Government announcement was a DHOKA.against democracy and opposition,” UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal The premier was accompanied by Finance Minister Barshaman Pun and Chief Secretary Lilamani Poude to Shital Niwas after the cabinet meeting. Maoist Spokesman Agni Sapkota said he expected an ordimance to be promulgated Wednesday. Pun said the remaining budget has programmes of the previous year and hoped the president will endorse it. t had introduced one-third budget of Rs 161.2b for the running fiscal year. The president will hold consultations with lawyers and others before taking a move President Yadav had urged a consensus on the budget and other contentious issues, including elections and a new government. nnnn WORLD ELEPHANT POLO IN BARDIYA Kathmandu, 20 Nov.:The 31st International Elephant Polo Tournament, which is being organised by Tigertops Karnali Lodge, is scheduled to commence from 25th November in Thakurduara, Bardiya, The Kathmandu Post writes. . The tournament has been moved to Bardiya from its original location of Chitwan due to the closing of the Tigertops resort, which had hosted the previous editions. Tigertops Administrative Manager, Ramsingh Gurung has said that preparations are in full swing. “Three elephants are already on their way to Bardiya while five more will be sent by truck on Tuesday.” He informed that eight teams have already registered for the tournament. nnnn
