JYC DEFEATS APF IN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE Kathmandu, 5 Nov.: Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC) defeated Armed Police Club (APC) 3-1 in the second Martyrs Memorial A Division League Championship Saturday. nnnn RAM BAHADUR THAPA CPN MAOIST CANDIDATE FOR PM Kathmandu, 25 Nov.:: The CPN-Maoist party has proposed its General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa as its candidate for the post of the new Prime Minister, RSS reports.. Addressing a training programme held at the Party's central office at Buddhanagar in the capital on Sunday, Vice-chairman of the party CP Gajurel announced that the party had decided to propose General Secretary Thapa as its candidate for the post of Prime Minister. He also said that the CPN-Maoist would not accept the proposing of prime ministerial candidate from the Nepali Congress or the UCPN-Maoist party for the consensus government. Gajurel also claimed that the political impasse could be resolved only if his party was given the leadership of the next government, as only the CPN-Maoist carried a new agenda. He went further ahead to also claim that other political parties would fail to name the candidate for the post of prime minister of the consensus government within the seven days deadline given by the President. It would be right for Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai to give way to the new government, with the President already making a call for the same, he said. Nnnn DISQUALIFIED MAOIST FIGHTERS CALL OFF INDEFINITE NEPAL BANDH Kathmandu, 25 Nov.: The indefinite Nepal Bandh called by the disqualified PLA combatants since Saturday has been called back from Sunday afternoon, RSS reports from Khapa.. According to Sunil Limbu, General Secretary of the group, they withdrew all the programmes of bandh since Sunday afternoon making a decision to organise Kathmandu valley centered protest within a week. The former Maoist combatants, who were declared disqualified by the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN), had declared the banda for an indefinite period demanding that the tag of disqualified combatants to them should be removed, and lump sum financial package and other facilities be given to them. nnnn KATHMANDU INTERNATIONAL ARTS FESTIVAL BEGINS Kathmandu, 25 Nov.: The month-long Kathmandu International Arts Festival began here on Sunday, RSS reports from Lalitpur.. Exhibitions in different museums and art galleries of Kathmandu and Lalitpur and symposium are organised under the festival organised by the Siddhartha Art Foundation. Creations of 102 artists from 31 nations would be exhibited in different 16 places in Kathmandu and Lalitpur. Artists from Nepal, America, Canada, Japan, and Bangladesh including others are taking part in the exhibition. The sculptures and different artistic creations have been exhibited in Patan Museum, Nagbahal, central zoo and newachchhe. The organiser said that seminars on different aspects of arts also would be held from Tuesday. Theme of the festival is 'earth, body, mind'. The festival was organised first time in 2009.
