MANISHA KOIRALA BEING OPERATED MONDAT AT US HOSPITAL FOR CANCER Kathmandu, 1 Dec.: Actress Manisha Koirala, who has been diagnosed with cancer, will be flown to the United States for further treatment, according to family sources, The Himalayan Times reports from New Delhi. Manisha’s father Prakash Koirala said she will be flown to New York on Saturday. She will be admitted to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre where she will be operated on Monday, he said. Manisha, who was admitted to Jaslok Hospital on November 28, has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She has returned home in Andheri, Mumbai now. “The cancer is in its preliminary stage, but we don’t want to take any chance and her friends also have suggested that she be taken to the US,” said her father. “Her health condition is normal now. She is taking rest,” he added. Madhyapur plays Armed Police Force (APF) in another match. nnnn THREE HELD FOR FORGING DUCUMENTS Kathmandu, 1 Dec.: The Central Investigation Bureau of the Nepal Police today rounded up three manpower agents for sending unemployed youth abroad illegally, The HImalayanTImes reports.. Of the arrestees Bungsang Dorje Lama (26) of Ramechhap, was an agent of the Mandikhatar-based Future International Service, whereas Adhikari and Pokharel were labour representatives for the Baneshwor-based Wise International Nepal and the Basundhara-based Glory Overseas. “Acting on information that the three had long been involved in trafficking youth abroad by counterfeiting official documents, seals and signatures, a CIB team nabbed them from separate places in Kathmandu to initiate legal action against them,” DSP Krishna Kumar Mahat said. According to investigators, Gulf countries had deported more than 200 people, who the three had sent for employment. DSP Mahat said Lama, Adhikari and Pokharel used to put fake labour stickers and seals of the Department of Foreign Employment on the documents of job-seekers, charging them hefty sums. The CIB has confiscated 46 passports, 28 fake labour stickers, stamp seals of the DoFE, Future International Service, Wise International Nepal, Wise International Nepal, Notary Public and Akriti Recruiting, and photocopies of five visas. The CIB said Lama, Adhikari and Pokharel would work in cahoots to counterfeit all documents that a foreign job-seeker requires. They would charge Rs 15,000 for a fake labour sticker. The law enforcement agency has charged the three under the Foreign Employment Act and sent them to the Metropolitan Police Range, Hanumandhoka, for further investigation and legal action. nnnn
