MINISTER PUN CRITICIZES PRESIDENT
Kathmandu, 24 Nov.: Finance Minister Barshaman Pun has said that the President's move to call on the parties for consensus government within a week was
Unconstitutional, RSS reports from Bhaktapur..
He said, "We will expose the President's move. Nothing will happen here as per the wishes of the President, NC and UML."
Speaking at a programme organised by the UCPN-Maoist at Madyapur Thimi in Bhaktapur on Saturday, Minister Pun said that President Dr Ram Baran Yadav was adopting the authoritarian style like that of dethroned king Gyanendra Shah.
The UCPN-Maoist leader also said that the CPN-Maoist, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML were trying to take benefits from the President's step.
Pun said, "President's call to form the government as per the Article 38 (1) of the Interim Constitution of Nepal, 2007, is unconstitutional. The President will call on the parties to form the government as per the Article 38 (2) if consensus was not forged. This is more unconstitutional."
Pun claimed that call for formation of the majority government would invite incidents like horse trading. He also accused the CPN-Maoist, NC, UML and Rastriya Prajatantra Party of trying to reinstate the monarchy by reviving the Constitution of 1990.
