NEPAL ELECTED TO UN BODY Kathmandu, 9 Nov.: Nepal was elected Thursday by the UN general assembly member of Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) member for a three-year term from1 January 2013. Albania, Benin, Bolivia, Canada, Colombia, Croatia, Haiti, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Mauritius, Netherlands, San Marino, South Africa, Sudan, Tunisia, Turkmenistan and the United States were also elected. Nepal was elected as member of the ECOSOC in 1980 and 2001 and has served as vice-president Nnnn MAM DEAD IN NEPALGUNJ HOTEL Kathmandu, 9 Nov.: A person was found dead Thursday night at a hotel room in Nepalgunj, RSS reports from Nepalgunj.. The body of the man, aged around 40, whose identity has yet to be established, was found in the Room No. 5 of Salyan- Rukumeli Hotel located at the main bus park, DSP Surya Bahadur KC at the district police office said. Police suspect the man was murdered. According to the district police office, they have launched a manhunt to nab the three persons who had shared the room with the victim. The identities of the three have not been revealed. Nnnn PROTESTS CONTINUE AT PATAN HOSPITAL Kathmandu, 9 Nov : Agitating doctors/employees at Patan Hospital are set to prevent Vice-chancellor and Rector from entering their office on Friday, RSS reports from Lalitpur. The stirring doctors/employees are staging sit-in at the entrance gate of the hospital today to prevent entrance of office-bearers after police removed a padlock slapped at the Vice-chancellor´s Office on Thursday. The doctors/employees have been demonstrating protest by staging sit-in before the main gate and chanting slogans against wrongdoings since this early morning. Hospital employees have been on agitation for the past one week saying political appointment of incompetent and under-qualified person to the sensitive post has tarnished the image of the hospital.
