NEPAL’S FLAG HOISTED OVER LUMBINI Kathmandu, 13 Nov.: Nepal’s flag has been hoisted over Lumbini. The national flag has replaced the Buddhist flag over the birthplace of The Buddha. The move came after sporadic reports in foreign media the historic and religious site was in Indian territory. Nnnn UPDATE GODDESS LAXMI WORSHIPPED Kathmandu, 13 Nov.: Hindu devotees worshipped Laxmi, the Goddess of Wealth, at homes Tuesday evening. The Goddess was welcomed inside homes that were brightly lit. Revelers played bhailo/deushi banned after 11 at night. Restraint has been urged during celebrations. Nnnn UML DECIDES ON INTENSIFIEDANTI MAOIST PROTESTS. Kathmandu, 13 Nov.; Opposition UML standing committee Tuesday decided on intensified anti-government and anti-Maoist immediately after tihar. Fourteen parties earlier decided on detailed protests demanding ouster of 13-month old government of Baburam Bhattarai with replacement of national government headed by a member of the opposition. Maoists say Bhattarai could lead such a government. UML also decided not to support a unilateral budget brought by Government also deciding to work with other parties in anti-government protests. nnnn
