SHARE PRICES RECOVER Kathmandu, 12 Nov.; Share prices recovered Monday—the last day of trading before a three-day recess for tihar from Tuesday. Nepse gained 5.35 points and closed at 450.84 points. Altogether 304,603 shares were traded for Rs.93.315 million in 2275 transactions. Nnnn ILAM JEEP ACCIDENT KILLS THREE Kathmandu, 12 Nov : Three persons were killed Monday when a jeep Hurled off a road at Bhar Bhanjyan of Bajho-9. The vehicle was going to Panchthar from Damak A squad from the district police office has been dispatched to the incident site. The identities of the victims have not been established yet. The driver is on the run following the mishap. Nnnn SUSHIL KOIRALA REPEATS CHARAGES AGAINST UCPN (MAOIST) Kathmandu, 12 Nov :Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala has accused the UCPN (Maoist) of intending to impose autocratic rule in the country and claimed that the agitation announced by the opposition parties against such plan would be successful, RSS reports. He underlined the need of establishing lasting peace, ensuring political stability, and taking the country out of terror, threat and totalitarianism. Speaking at a greetings-exchange programme and tea-reception organized by the Nepal Tamang Association Kathmandu Liaison Committee on the occasion of the Deepawali Festival in the capital on Monday, Koirala said the Congress was and is always in favour of federalism and accused the UCPN (Maoist) of besmirching the Congress that it was against federalism. All the people have become aware of their rights after the people´s movement and institutionalizing the achievements of the movement falls upon the shoulder of the Congress. Also speaking on the occasion, party central member Gagan Thapa opined that the agitation was a must not for the Congress-led government but for guranteeing democracy and new election. However, the Prime Minister and the UCPN (Maoist) Chairman have not been serious towards this, he added. He urged other political parties to be aware of the intention of UCPN (Maoist) of capturing state power. NC Kathmandu district president Bhimsendas Pradhan said that federalism was established in Nepal with the then party President Girija Prasad Koirala signing its concept paper after the Madhesh movement. Former CA member Tirthaman Dangol stressed the need of protecting democracy and added that the joint agitation announced by the opposition parties was intended for this. Association Chairman Kapil Lama underlined the need of involving the ethnic groups in nation building instead of creating disputes among them.
