ANOTHER DEADLINE MISSED WITHOUT RESULT UPDATE Kathmandu, 12 Dec.: A third presidential deadline to parties to agree on a consensus government and assemble a ministerial team to conduct national elections April.May—now unlikely—passed Wednesday with the head of state Dr. Ram Baran Yadav away in Argakanchi. He expressed dissatisfaction there with the functioning of political parties. Before proceeding there, he held consultations with Maoist Chairman Prachanda and later with six parties of a front led by Upendra Yadav, Chairman of MJFN. “If parties ask, the president is keen to extend the deadline for another two to four dayss,” Prachanda said after consultations when in a 3—minute meet the Maoist chief sought another extension. “The Big Three and the Madeshbadi front in government have failed to give an outlet. Other parties should be involved,” Sharat Singh Bhandari of the six-party front under Yadav said. Bhandari said the president would consult other parties amid criticism of the head of state for attempting to find a solution only with the involvement of the ruling coalition and NC and UML. The deceased has been identified as Saroj Gautam, 30, a resident of Galchhi from Dhading district, according to District Police office, Nuwakot. Critically injured Dinesh Gautam is undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital, Kathmandu.The motorcycle (Ba 50 Pa 9293) heading towards Galchhi from Devighat met with an accident after skidding off the road at around 10:00 pm, said police.
