ANOTHER FIRE IN RASUWA
Kathmandu, 23 Dec. : A massive fire engulfed a forest along the border of Langbu and Thangdor village of Yarcha VDC last night no sooner the incident of fire in the forest areas around River Kunda in Briddim VDC of Rasuwa was brought under
Control, RSS reports Dhunche, Rasuwa.
The inferno that broke out since 1.00 am on Sunday has so far destroyed around five hectares of green forest, said locals.
Nepal Army squad and local people have been effortful to douse the fire since this morning, informed Guna Bahadur Galyang of Langbu Post in the Langtang National Park.
Locals belonging to Yarcha, Saramthali, Lachyang and Kuwapani remained terrorized after seeing the forest under massive fire in the night

TUSKER AGAIN DESTROYS FIVE HOUSES IN MADI
Kathmandu, 23 Dec.:: An elephant coming out from the Chitwan National Park has again started rampaging in the human settlements in Madi, Chitwan, RSS reports from Ratnanagar..
The elephant broke down five houses at Harinagar in Madi Kalyanpur VDC last night, confirmed the Madi Police.
Houses dismantled by elephant belong to Balaram Raut, Chandra Raut, Sona Raut, Dharmendra Mahato and Rup Lal Chaudhary of Madi, said Santosh Paneru, a local.
Local dwellers here are getting scared with the rise in elephant rampage no sooner a couple had to lose their lives in tusker attack Draupadinagar of Madi a week ago.
The family members had managed to escape the tusker attack after the wildlife coming from the national park started dismantling house while they were asleep.
Now police is collecting detail of loss incurred by elephant rampage in the area, said police.
The victims said it was the same rampaging elephant Dhrube that attacked on the houses.
Meanwhile, the park authority said that the injured elephant Dhrube has been out of contact since Saturday night and search for the wildlife is on.

NC REGIONAL CLOSED DOOR MEEET STARTS
Kathmandu, 23 Dec.:: The closed-door session of the national council meeting of Nepali Congress regional presidents has commenced at Thaligumba in Danchhi VDC on Sunday, RSS reports from Sundarijal.
Party vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel is scheduled to present a working paper on democratic socialism and the Nepali Congress at the outset of the closed-door meeting of the gathering that will run until December 24.
Member-Secretary of the Meeting Organising Committee, Upendra Karki, said that in the closed-door session today leaders are scheduled to present working papers on the achievements of the Nepali Congress, economy and the Nepali Congress, the role of the regional presidents in the consolidation of the party organisation and federalism and inclusion, respectively.
The regional presidents will discuss the working papers in groups divided according to the zones, it is stated.

COLD CLAIMS TWO MORE LIVES
Kathmandu, 23 Dec.: Two more persons died on Saturday night in Mahottari district due to cold. RSS reports from Gaushala..
The deceased have been identified as Mishri Yadav, 60, of Mataulia-4 and Binod Chaudhary, 40, of Aurahi-3, according to the District Police Office.
Police Inspector Suraj Khadka said they died due to freezing cold after the sudden fall on mercury following the cold wave.
With this, a total of six persons had lost their lives due to cold this year in the district this year, said police.

SAPTAKOSHI DAM MEET BEGINS
KATHMANDU: The 13th meeting of the Saptakoshi High Dam Project kicked-off, today [Sunday], RSS reports.REPORTS.
Anup Upadhyay, Director General of the Department of Electricity Development is leading the 10-member Nepali delegation whereas Devendra Sharma, Secretary at Central Commission for Water Resources of India is leading the 15-member Indian delegation in the two-day meeting.
The meeting would review the progress made so far on the project and also hold discussions on geological survey carried out regarding the project, and other issues, said Director General Upadhyay.
Senior officers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Energy, Department of Water Induced Disaster Control, Nepal Electricity Authority and the General Manager of the project are attending the meeting.
