BRITISH CONTRIBUTION TO PEACE FUND Kathmandu, 11 Dec.: United Kingdom (UK) Tuesday contributed US$5.7 million to the Nepal Peace Trust Fund (NPTF). The British embassy said the money was provided under the UK Multilateral Debt Relief Initiative (MDRI). The money will be invested to implement the provisions of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement. Last year the UK had provided $5.3 million Nnnn GOVT. TO CARE FOR MUSLIM GIRL WITH FIRST DEGREE BURNS UPDATE Kathmandu, 11 Dec.: Chief Secretary of the government Lila Mani Poudel has directed the officials of the Bir Hospital to provide free treatment of Shiva Hasami. Hasami was burnt alive after pouring petrol by Indian national Babu Khan in Nepalgunj on December 9 after the 16-year-old denied his proposal to getting married to Khan. Meeting with the Director of Bir Hospital Dr Buland Thapa, the Chief Secretary gave a direction to that end. Under secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers Shesh Narayan Poudel said that the Chief Secretary has given directive to the officials of the hospital to leave no stone unturned for Hasima's treatment. Similarly, the Chief Secretary has said that the government would take total responsibility of Hasami's treatment. Over 90 per cent of Hasami's body has been burnt. Hasami was brought to Kathmandu on Monday with the help from NGOs, locals and government agencies. Nnnn HOSPITAL STAFF KILLED IN ROAD ACCIDENT IN CHITWAN Kathmandu, 11 Dec.: An accountant at the Bharatpur Hospital, Chitwan, was killed in a road mishap in Chitwan on Tuesday morning, RSS reports from Chitwan.. The deceased has been identified as Krishna Gopal Shrestha. According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, the mishap occurred when a truck (Na 4 Kha 1713) hit Shrestha's motorcycle (Na 15 Pa 5616) in front of a campus in Bharatpur while he was on the way to office. The truck driver has been absconding after the accident and police have impounded the truck. nnnn
