CHAKRA PRASAD BASTOLA SUFFERS HEART ATTACK Kathmandu, 29 Dec.: NC leader ad former foreign minister and ambassador to India Chakra Bastoka suffered a heart attack Saturday at his home in Jhapa, He was rushed across the border to Siligudi for treatment. Bastola is a nephew of the Koirala family. He lost favour in the NC and isn’t even central committee member after revealing details of Girija Prasad Koirala’s direct talks with self-exiled Maoist leader Prachandaa and Indian officials in new Delhi to usher in a republic. The revelations were made in an article on the 13th day of Girija Prasad Koirala’s death. Nnnn ANOTHER WARNING OF NO VOTE Kathmandu, 29 Dec.: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bijay Kumar Gachhadar on Saturday remarked that fresh Constituent Assembly (CA) poll by mid-May is impossible if parties fail to forge consensus by January 9, RSS reports from Biratnagar. Briefly talking to journalists, Gachhadar also said that Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai would not resign until the CA elections were ensured. “The Prime Minister would not quit until parties sign a package deal,” he added. He also ruled out the possibility of an NC-led government as in his own words opposition parties Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML refused to accept a nine-point rider put forth by the Madhesi Front. Gachhadar, who is also the chairman of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Loktantrik), said the NC and CPN-UML should understand that Madhesi parties would not support to the parties that are not ready to resolve the issues of Madhes. He also made it clear that the constitution was not drafted due to opposition parties' reluctance to accept federalism and existence of Madhesi. Nnnn COLD KILLS ONE PERSON IN TANAHU Kathmandu, 29 Dec.: An elderly people died of chilling cold at Damauli Bus Park in Damauli, Tanahun, RSS reports from Damauli.. Identity of the man, who seems like an Indian national, has not been ascertained yet, police said. His body has been kept at Damauli Hosptial for postmortem. Nnnn THREE HELD FOR HELPING GET CITIZENSHIP ILLEGALLY Kathmandu, 29 Dec.: The Area Police Office, Rangeli, has arrested three persons for providing help to Anup Shrestha to acquire citizenship illegally from Morang district, RSS reports from Biratnagar. The arrested ones were office assistant at the Area Administration Office, Rangeli, Panchu Chaudhari, Gopal Shivakoti of Darbesh VDC and Shaktikala Rai of Indrapur-4. Similarly, Anup Shrestha originally hailing from Kathmandu was held for acquiring citizenship illegally from the Area Administration Office, Rangeli on June 13, 2011.Police have initiated further investigation on them. nnnn.
