CONSENSUS A MUST SAYS PM Kathmandu, 15 Dec.: Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai on Saturday stated that the fresh Constituent Assembly (CA) elections is impossible in April/MAY without political consensus among the parties, RSS reports.. Speaking at a programme organised by a cooperative organisation at Goldhunga VDC, he expressed the hope that political consensus would be forged within a few days and it would make no difference whoever took the government's leadership. Prime Minister Dr Bhattarai said the political forces that have accepted the federalism half-heartedly would neither allow writing of the constitution nor let the government work in favor of the general public. He also expressed sadness over the shelving of the ordinances that were prepared to find a way out to the current political transition at the President's Office. The Prime Minister opined that an independent person could not be made the prime minister in the country that has been practicing multi-party system and also stressed the need of forging consensus for the national unity government from within the political parties. "The political parties need to be prepared for the fresh CA elections as there is no alternative to this in the context when there are no elected bodies," he said claiming that the constitution could not be promulgated due to the conflict between the new forces and old ones. During the programme, former minister Hishila Yami urged one and all to work for women's empowerment and recognize their identity in the society. Similarly, former lawmaker of the Unified CPN-Maoist, Khimlal Devkota, stressed the need of moving ahead with new approach to struggle against national problems. nnnn
