NAGESHWR JHA DEAD
Kathmandu, 19 Dec.: Democratic fighter Nageshwor Jha passed away Wednesday morning at his own residence at Damhimadai-6 in Mahottarai district. He was 76, RSS reports.from Bardibas.
Jha begun his political carrier at a member of the Nepali Congress and had significant contribution to the political movements launched for democracy at different times in the country.
He was a patient of diabetics, high blood-pressure and respiratory problems. Jha is considered and respected as an honest and ideal personality in the Nepali politics.
Various political leaders paid last tributes to the late Jha. His last rites were performed today as per the rituals.
He is survived by his spouse, four daughters and three sons

COLD HITS LIFT
Kathmandu, 19 Dec.: Extreme cold conditions were experienced throughout the country, including the Kathmandu Valley, on Wednesday, RSS reports.
The life in the Kathmandu Valley and in the Terai region was much affected due to cold. Fog has started descending in the Kathmandu Valley in the mornings, making life for the college goers and the vegetable traders difficult.
Meteorologist Rajendra Prasad Shrestha said the Valley saw fog cover in the morning today and the rest of the country experienced an increase in cold.
He said the Valley will see fog cover for a week and rainfall is expected after that. In the Terai, the weather will grow colder as the duration of haze cover will grow longer.
Shrestha said although it will be cold in the Valley in the morning due to the fog cover, there will be sunshine after that.
It is said the hilly region including the Kathmandu Valley and the Terai region have experienced foggy conditions due to the rains in the western parts of the country since some days back.
The minimum temperature in Kathmandu Valley today was 2.4 degrees Celsius and the maximum 19.21 degrees Celsius.

GOLD PRICE DIPS
Kathmandu, 19 Dec.: The Price of yellow metal in the domestic market has decreased by Rs. 702 per tola on Wednesday as compared to Tuesday. RSS reports..
The hallmark gold was traded at Rs. 58,795 per tola on Wednesday while it was traded at Rs. 59,500 per tola on Tuesday, according to the Nepal Gold Silver Dealers' Association (NEGOSIDA).
Chairman of the NEGOSIDA, Tejratna Shakya said the price of yellow metal decreased in Nepali markets as its price went down by 25 dollar in each Ounce in international market on Wednesday.
Similarly, the price of silver stood at Rs. 1,150 per tola today with decrease of Rs. 20 per tola as compared to Tuesday.

ACCIDENT DEATHS
Kathmandu, 19 Dec.: A motorcyclist, who was critically injured in a road accident in Tinkune, capital died while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) Tuesday night, RSS reports..
Motorcyclist Gopikrishna Parajuli, 50, of Sinamangal, Kathmandu, was critically injured after a truck (Na 3 Kha 9357) heading to Koteshwor from Sinamangal knocked down the motorcycle (Ba 43 Pa 8403) at Tinkune.
Police held both vehicles and truck driver Aliula Ansari of Birgunj, from Parsa district in connection with the accident, said Ramesh Shrestha, Sub-Inspector Ramesh Shrestha at Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, Ramshahpath.
The body has been taken to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), Maharajgunj for post-mortem while police investigation into the accident is underway.
Meanwhile, a pedestrian, who was critically injured in a road accident in Jhapa district, died while undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, last night.
Deumaya Mishra, 56, of Ekten VDC Ward No. 5 from Panchthar district was fatally injured when the motorcycle (Sa 1 Pa 9248) hit her, according to District Police Office, Jhapa.
In the accident, motorcyclist Sudhir Chaudhary was also injured and he is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Also, a body of 28-year-old Dhirendra Shah of Bhagawanpur VDC Ward No. 8 of Bara district was found in pond at Karchowa VDC Ward No.1 of the same district, said District Police Office, Bara.
Police investigation into the case is going on while the body has been sent to the Kalaiya Hospital for post-mortem.
