PARTIES GET ANOTHER DEADLINE EXTENSION
Kathmandu, 30 Dec.: President Ram Baran Yadav Sunday extended a
deadline for the seventh time until 9 January 9 asking political parties to
agree find a consensus candidate to replace Baburam Bhattarai who is
reluctant to quit after 16 months in office.
The deadline was extended after consultations with leaders of
UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF).

ANOTHER JANAJATI PARTY LAUNCHED
Kathmandu, 30 Dec.: Socialist Democratic Party, sponsored by Janahatis, was launched from the capital Sunday.
The new party was launched one after Ashot Rai, vice-chairman of UML, launched
The Federal Socialist Party on Sunday.
Leaders of the new party are dissatisfied with Rai's faction.
A seven-member committeehas been formed with Chaitanya Subba; other members are:, Kumar Rai, Bal Kumari Budamagar, Pasang Sherpa, Dalmardan Karki, Nima Gyanzen Lhyolmo and Jyoti Dunuwar.

ROCK BLAST KILLS TWO WORKERS
Kathmandu, 30 Dec.: Two Nepali workers were killed Sunday when rocks
were being blasted while constructing a tunnel of Khani Khola
Hydropower project in Dolakha.
Bir Bahadur Gurung was among the killed.
