SCHOOLS CLOSED IN MORANG FEARING DOOMSDAY
Kathmandu, 21 Dec.: : Community schools in the eastern and northern parts of Morang district were closed today [Friday], following rumour that the earth would be destroyed today or
December 21, RSS reports.
Some 30 schools in east and north Morang including the Janata Secondary School, Morang remained closed today due to the doomsday rumour, according to teachers.
Meanwhile, property worth Rs. 400,000 was looted from a computer shop based in Traffic Chowk in Biratnagar.
Six computer sets and laptops, computer parts and cash were looted from the shop that is just 100 in distance from the police office, shop owner Sushil Regmi said

NO RESORT TO ARMS SAYS CPN MAOIST LEADER
Kathmandu, 21 Dec : Vice-chairman of the CPN-Maoist, CP Gajurel has said his party would not take up arms right now

Speaking at a press conference organized by Revolutionary Journalists´ Association in Gaighat, today, he warned that his party would be compelled to take up arms if the Unified CPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), and Madhes based political parties alone sign any agreement bypassing their party.
The agreement signed by the major parties without recognizing the CPN-Maoist will not be acceptable to them, he added.
He alleged that the UCPN (Maoist) and Madhes-based political parties are chiefly responsible for the present political crisis, reiterating that the settlement of current political transition was not possible by the talks between some political parties.
He said President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav´s efforts towards finding a political way out by calling on the government alliance and other political parties would be in vain.
CPN-Maoist leader Gajurel said Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and Madhes based political parties are in no mood of giving up the state power and it was because of this that the nation has to pass through the current political crisis.
Leader Gajurel was for settling present political crisis from a roundtable conference and warned of street protest if it was not possible.

BICYCLE ONCE WEEK ARMY CHIEF TELLS OFFICER
Kathmandu, 21 Dec.: Amy Chef Gen. Gurab Shumshere JB Rana has
Directed his officers to come to office once a week on a bicycle walk to reduce pollution, the army said.
This will be valid within the ring road from 10 in the morning to five in the afternoon.
.Officers will be allowed to use office vehicles early morning for meetings or other work.
