SUPREME COURT FULL BENCH TO DECIDE IF PARLIAMENTARY HEARING NEEDED FOR JUDGE APPOINTMNT
Kathmandu, 2 Dec. : The Supreme Court has sent the writ demanding appointment of judges without the mandatory parliamentary hearing to the full bench for a decision, RSS reports.
The writ was sent to a full bench after opinion on the same was divided between justice Girish Chandra Lal and Ram Kumar Prasad Shah, according to joint-spokesperson of the Court, Hemant Rawal.
During the hearing of the writ filed by advocate Achyut Prasad Kharel, Nepal Bar Association and Supreme Court Bar had even sent amicus curiae.
Following the decision to send the writ to a full bench, it is likely that the case could now remain undecided as only two justices remain, which may not be regarded a full bench. Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi, Damodar Prasad Sharma, Justice Shah and Justice Lal are office-bearers of the Judicial Council, and hence cannot take part in the full bench.
Likewise, temporary justice also cannot be a part of it as the case is related to the temporary justices.

NEFIN PROTESTS CENSUS RESULTS
Kathmandu, 2 Dec.:: The Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) picketed the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) protesting against what it claimed faulty national census 2011 in the capital on Sunday, RSS reports.
The NEFIN has claimed that 12 of the total 59 ethnic groups enlisted at NEFIN were not covered by the census.
The Federation has also accused the sides concerned of intentionally leaving out such groups in order to weaken the agenda of formation of federal units based on identity.
In protest, the NEFIN also burnt copies of the national census 2011 report on December 26.
President of NEFIN Raj Kumar Lekhi said a month-long protest programme has begun across the country in protest against the act of leaving out ethnic groups from the census.
According to Lekhi, protest programmes were held in 10 districts including Kathmandu today, where copies of the census report were burnt.
The NEFIN also handed over today a memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister to Director General of the Central Bureau of Statistics Uttam Narayan Malla.
The team led by NEFIN General Secretary Angkaji Sherpa handed over the memorandum following a sit-in and sloganeering at the CBS premises at Thapathali.
