The opposition has decided to support the candidature of NC to succeed Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai as head of a consensus government to hold elections which is unlikely to be held in Aril/may despite commitment of major parties. Khanal has also recommended bringing down the toppling of the Bhattarai government through street protests.
