FATHER JAILED FOR RAPING DAUGHTER Kathmandu, 21 Jan.: A father was sentenced by the Makawanpur district court Monday for raping his daughter, Shukra Raj Meghi of Bhainse VDC in Makwanpur Was sentenced to a 18-year jail term. MINISTER BOGATI HEADS SHIVARATRI CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE Kathmandu, 21 Jan.: The Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) on Monday formed a 151-member Shivaratri Celebrations Main Committee under the leadership of Minister for Culture Posta Bahadur Bogati. A meeting of the PADT held today also selected member-secretary Sushil Nahata and Treasurer Narottam Baidhya in the same post of the Shivaratri Celebration Main Committee. Similarly, the Executive Officer of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the Local Development Officer of Kathmandu District Development Committee and all members of the PADT are also represented in the Committee. During the meeting, Minister Bogati directed the committee members to make necessary arrangements for the devotees´ service while praying to the Pashupatinath Temple. Similarly, nine different sub-committees including security management sub-committee, volunteers sub-committee, publicity sub-committee and Sadhu management sub-committee, among others are formed. This year´s Shivaratri falls on 12 March Nnnn TAXI DRIVERS RALLY Kathmandu, 21 Jan.: Taxi drivers in the capital organized a protest rally on Monday against the traffic police move to take action against the taxi drivers for allegedly charging exorbitant fares to their passengers, RSS reports.. The rally taken out from Ekantakuna of Lalitpur passed through different parts of the city before dispersing upon reaching the same point. Traffic police had started monitoring taxis from January 13 after its received many complaints by the passengers of suffering at the hands of the cab drivers of the capital. Nepal Department of Quality Control and Metrology and Kathmandu Metropolis have also helped the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division in the monitoring work. Division´s spokesperson Pawan Giri said that nearly 200 taxi drivers were punished during the period for breaching traffic rules. Most of the complaints lodged at traffic police include different yet exorbitant fares by the taxi drivers even in the same distance. nnnn
