KHANAL ADVISES NOT TO ISSUE THREATS Kathmandu, 21 Jan.: Chairman of the CPN-UML, Jhalanath Khanal, has accused the UCPN-Maoist of pushing the country towards crisis, autocracy and directionlessness. Taking part in a talk programme on "Education Policy in the Changed Context" organised by the CPN-UML, Valley Special Coordination Committee at the party central office at Balkhu today, Khanal said UCPN-Maoist's warning to launch revolt again the nation and people would backfire the party. He urged the UCPN-Maoist not to adopt the 'culture of threat' as a means of politicking. The nation could not get a new constitution within the time just because of the Maoist party, he said. The CPN-UML Chairman underlined the need of progress in the country's education sector. Party senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal, Secretary Yubraj Gyawali, former education minister Gangalal Tuladhar, Chief of the Department of Education Mahendra Bahadur Pandey and people associated with the education sector took part in the daylong programme. Nnnn LANDSLIDE DISRUPTS TRANSPORT SERVICE IN JUMLA Kathmandu, 21 Jan.: Transport services have been disrupted in Jumla district due to landslides at Jumla-Kalikot road section following heavy snowfall for the past three days.Long route vehicles from the district are stranded at the bus park and short-route transport services have also been disrupted, RSS reports from Jumla. According to Chairman of the KarnaliTransport Entrepreneurs' Committee, Min Bahadur Thapa, the transport services were disrupted due to landslides occurred in Timurebhir (cliff) and Ranchuli in Kalikot district and Raslihi in Jumla district. Passengers have been hard hit due to the disruption of transport services. Nnnn BROWN VULTURES SPOTTEDIN SIRAHA Kathmandu, 21 Jan.: A drove of brown vultures has been spotted near the East-West Highway in Siraha district., RSS reports fro, Golbazzar. The eight species of brown vulture including lammaigier, white rump, long willet are considered as rare in the world. Spotting of brown vulture included in the endangered list of animals in the locality is a matter of happiness for the sector of environment, environmentalist Dinesh Yadav said. A drove of rare species of vultures are seen in one kilometer east of Kasaha Chowk of Chandra Ayodhyanagar VDC where carcasses of buffaloes were thrown out. Of late, vultures are occasionally spotted in different villages in Siraha, bringing happiness to the people working in the sector of environment. Such vultures are rarely seen these days due to the new tradition that people bury the cattle themselves after they die rather than wait for Chamar community people for the task. nnnn
