NC CANDIDATE DEFEATED IN NBA ELECTION Kathmandu, 17 Jan.: Hari Krishna Karki of the Progressive Lawyers’ Association (PLA) was declared elected Thursday Chairman of Nepal Bar Association (NBA), the umbrella organisation of Nepali lawyers. Karki defeated his nearest rival Sher Bahadur KC of Democratic Lawyers’ Association (DLA) by 243 votes. Sunil Pokhrel of DLA was elected as the General Secretary. Elections to the NBA are held according to party affiliation. NC, UML and Maoists support their candidates to influence decisions especially in courts. nnnn
