POLICE FIRE ON PROTESTORS AT POWER PLANT IN PYUTHAN
Kathmandu, 7 Jan.: A person was injured Monday when police fired on a mob protesting load-shedding at the site of the 12MW Jhimruk power project in Pyuthan Monday.
The plant supplied electricity to districts in the western region.

ARMY CHIEF HOLDS DICUSSIONS WITH INDIAN COUNTERPART
Kathmandu, 7 Jan.: Army Chief Gen. Gaurab SJB Rana held discussions
in New Delhi with his India counterpart Gen. Bikram Singh, Nepal Army said.
Gen. Rana discussed matters of mutual interest with his counterpart on the
second day of his India visit.

PRESIDENT HOLDS DISCUSSIONS WITH KAMAL THAPA
Kathmandu, 7 Jan. President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav held discussions with
RPP-Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa Monday as it is almost certain the
eighth presidential deadline to the Big Three and Madeshi parties in government find a successor to Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai by Wednesday won’t be met.
RPP-Nepal has been urging the restoration of constitutional monarchy with a Hindu state.
The meeting came the day the president discussed national issues with
Prime Minister Bhattarai who is now pushing restoration of a
constituent assembly he automatically dissolved with constituent assembly
elections that was never held in November.
The president held discussions with other parties outside government
Sunday.

NATIONAL BOOD POLICY REPORT PRESENTED
Kathmandu, 7 Jan.: The National Book Policy Formulation Committee submitted its report to Education Minister, Dinanath
Sharma, RSS reports, today.
The government had constituted the committee on July 1, 2012, under the convenorship of Prof Dr Shiva Kumar Rai, member of the National Planning Commission.
The committee has recommended making the required policy, legal and structural arrangements for constituting a book council to formulate policy on books, and carry out monitoring and regulation.
Accepting the report, Minister Sharma said that the report would be presented to the Council of Ministers for endorsement and its implementation after carrying out necessary study on the draft of the national book policy.
