PRESIDENT AGAIN BLAMES PARTIES FOR FAILURE TO
PROMULGATE CONSTITUTION
Kathmandu, 9 Jan.: President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has expressed concern saying that the main law of the land could not be promulgated due to mistakes by the political parties and the government, RSS reports from Chitwan..
Inaugurating the Golden Jubilee Celebration programme of the Janajyoti Padma Narayan Dharma Kumari Malla Higher Secondary School at Shukranagar in west Chitwan today, the Head of the State urged the political parties to reach consensus and organise the constituent assembly election.
Expressing sadness over the change taken place in the country not becoming institutionalised, President Yadav said, "The people extended their support for bringing about all changes but the democracy and republic have not flourished well."
"The late leaders BP, Ganeshman, Pushpalal and Manmohan had played significant role in the movements that had taken place for heralding change in Nepal," the President said and stressed on unity among all to safeguard all the achievements made so far.
Stating that mistakes do happen in course of work, he urged the political parties to form a coalition government, and draft the constitution of the people through another election.
President Yadav said his job was to safeguard the constitution and that he was committed to protecting all the communities and religions.
The Head of the State also said that he was preparing to call all the political parties represented in the dissolved Constituent Assembly for a discussion on a way out after returning to the capital.
Addressing to the parties, President Yadav said, "Go to the election forging consensus and give the main law of the land to the people." He also sought the people's blessings in fulfilling his responsibility.
Stating that the people of Chitwan played important role in all the movements in Nepal, he said that he would like to thank the people here for these roles. He stressed that economic prosperity would be possible in the country only after the republic and democracy were institutionalized.
At the programme, Principal of the School, Amrit Bahadur Ranabhat presented the progress report while chairman of the school management committee Dilliram Timilsina and former chairman Yubaraj Adhikari gave information about the school.
Founding member of the school, Ganesh Prasad Jamarkattel was felicitated on the occasion. After the programme, President Yadav has returned to Narayangadh for opening the Chitwan Festival.
