UML’S OLI HOLDS DISCUSSIONS WITH PRESIDNT, SUSHIL KOIRALA
Kathmandu, 4 Jan.: President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and CPN-UML senior leader KP Oli held discussions this morning on seeking a political way out at a time when the political crisis is deepening after the political parties failed to reach consensus.
The meeting took place at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, Sheetal Niwas. Oli was accompanied by party vice-president Bidya Bhandari and general secretary Ishwar Pokharel.
The UML leaders including Oli went to meet the President after meeting Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala this morning.
After the meeting with the President, Oli said the discussions with the Head of State were focused on the contemporary political issues.
In the context talks of constituting a national unity government under the leadership of an independent person making the rounds, Oli said that it is the political parties alone that will resolve the problem.
"Independent person would not do; different kinds of gimmicks and cards are not going to work. It is the political parties themselves that will give a way out," Oli added.
The latest deadline set by the President to the political parties for forging consensus for the formation of a national consensus government ends today. However, the major political parties have not held a single formal meeting in this regard.
RSS adds: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala and CPN-UML leader KP Oil held a meeting at former's residence, Maharajgunj, on Friday morning.
During the meeting, they discussed on ending the protracted political stalemate, said Oli.
NC General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula, UML Vice-chairperson Bidhya Bhadari, General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel among others had also attended the meeting.
The opposition leaders held discussion on contemporary political issues at a time when the latest deadline provided by President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav to the political parties for forging consensus to form a national consensus government is terminating today.
Emerging from the meeting, NC General Secretary Sitaula said discussions were held with CPN-UML's senior leaders for resolving problems at a time when no decisive move has been forwarded from anywhere for the consensus.
A statement of forming a next government under the leadership of an independent person for election or a government formed under the leadership of political party could not hold election was just a humorous statement, said Sitaula quoting Oli.
