The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has formed a 4-member mission team under the coordination of its Chairman Shiva Gaunle in order to find facts about the ongoing action on five Maoist party cadres arrested in accusation of the murder of journalist Dekendra Thapa in Dailekh district.Journalist Thapa was killed in 2004, RSS reports.. The mission team comprises FNJ advisor Poshan KC, central member Damodar Timilsina and central member and coordinator of the Midwestern region Surya Mani Gautam. The team would garner entire information about the ongoing interrogation of the murder accused by holding separate discussions with the family of slain journalist, local journalists and administration.The team left for Dailekh today. CPN-Maoist Dailekh express concern over cadres´ arrest The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) Dailekh district committee organized a press meet in the capital and expressed concern over the arrest of its cadres in connection with the murder of journalist Dekendra Thapa. The committee at the premises of the ongoing Seventh General Convention of the party at Nepal Academy protested the arrest of its cadres, reasoning an agreement was already made to solve the problems of human rights violations perpetrated by both rebel and state sides during the conflict period could be solved through the formation of the truth and reconciliation committee. Arresting party cadres was the unilateral move of the government, it accused.District secretary Ganga Bahadur Gharti said the arrest breached the comprehensive peace accord. He urged the government not to make big issues on the conflict-era incidents but seek solution through the formation of the reconciliation commission. The cadres of the party arrested in connection with the journalist´s murder are Bheri-Karnali state committee secretariat member Jaya Bahadur Shahi, state committee member Harilal Punmangar, district committee member Nirak Ghartimagar and others nnnn MAOISTS SAY KOIRALA UNACCEPTABLE AS PM Kathmandu, 12 Jan.: The UCPN (Maoist) has clearly said that the party cannot accept Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala as the next prime minister, RSS reports. The UCPN (Maoist) leaders made such statement at a meeting with the top leaders of CPN-UML on Sunday morning. The UML leaders had reached UCPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda´s residence at Lazimpat to seek Maoists´ support for making Koirala next prime minister. After the meeting with the UCPN (Maoist) leaders, CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal said he proposed the Maoist leaders to support an NC-led government under the leadership of Koirala as the UML has already seconded Koirala´s candidacy for the post. Leader Nepal told journalists that the Maoist leaders said it was impossible to accept the NC-led government under the leadership of Koirala.Earlier this morning, the top leaders of the NC and UML had held discussions on present political development. During the meeting held at NC President Koirala´s residence, the top leaders of both parties concluded to take to the streets arguing that the Maoists were attempting to defer the elections in different pretensions and trying to impose authoritarianism. The meeting also decided to firmly support NC President Koirala´s candidacy for prime ministerial bid. nnnn
