UPDATE PRESIDENTIAL DEADLINE AGAIN EXTENDED UNTILWEDNESDAY Kathmandu, 5 Jan: President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav Saturday extended for the eighth time by five days until Wednesday a deadline to find a successor of Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai to assemble a national government to conduct constituent assembly elections. Shital Niwas said the deadline was extended at request of parties who assured a national government will be assembled. The presidnt again involved only the Big Three and Madeshbadi party whose leaders held discussions with Dr. Yadav who earlier involved small parties in the dissolved parliament. nnnn. . GOVT. CHARGED FOR FAILURE TO CURB ABUSES AGAINST WOMEN Kathmandu, 5 Jan.: Rights groups Saturday gheraored the official residence of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai for two hours from nine in the morning Saturday as incidents of violence against women are on the rise. Rights activists have come out on the streets for the second consecutive day charging government for ineffectiveness in fighting the crime. Seven incidents hve laely been reported.
