FORMER KING WATCHES FOOTBALL MATCH IN SIMARA Kathmandu, 14 Feb.: Former King Gyanendra watched a semi-final football match between Himalayan Sherpa Club and Shakata in Simara Thursday. Himalayan Sherpa Club entered the tournament’s .final beating Sankata 2-1 in extended time. The King and former Queen Komal are in Simara and staying with Prabhu SHumshere Rana—a friend and relative. Nnnn NEPAL SLIPS FOUR PLACES IN FIFA RANKING Kathmandu, 14 Feb.; Nepal slipped four places in world monthly ranking of FIFA, soccer’s world governing body. Nepal slipped from 170 to 174th place in world ranking. Maldives is South Asia’s top soccer nation. Nnnn TEMPORARY TEACHERS ANNOUNCE PROTESTS Kathmandu, 14 Feb.: The Temporary Teachers´ Struggle Committee (TTSC) has fixed agitation programs, saying the Teachers´ Service Commission did not include them in the advertisements called by it, RSS reports. The Commission had published open advertisement on January 4 only for the temporary teacher s working until April 23, 2006. Stating that the decision was irrational and discriminating, Chairman of the Struggle Committee, Dhurendra Prasad Chaurasiya, said that government´s attention was drawn to make all the temporary teacher s and teacher s on contract working so far, permanent, through the same process. Chaurasiya also warned of launching a stern agitation from February 23 if the Ministry of Education did not address their demands. The Struggle Committee claimed that this advertisement was against the agreement reached between the government and agitating teacher s´ fronts on March 16, 2012. RSS nnnn UPPER TRISHULI WORKERS WITHDRAW PROTESTS Kathmandu, 14 Feb.: The workers of Upper Trishuli Hydropower Project Third ´A´ have withdrawn their agitations from today after the contractor agreed to meet the workers´ demands within a week, RSS reports from Trishuli. The workers agreed to return to work after the China Gezhouba Group Company Ltd, the contractor of the project, promised to meet the agitating workers´ demands within a week, said Chandra Bahadur Tamang, a worker in the project. The workers were obstructing the construction works for three days putting different demands including wage hike, facilities of government leave and others. The 60 MW project is being constructed in Trisuli river where the dam lies in Dandagaon VDC of Rasuwa and powerhouse in Manakamana VDC of Nuwakot district. The run of the river project is being developed at the cost of US dollars 89 million. nnnn
