UML LEADER OPPOSES CJ-LED GOVT.
Kathmandu,16 Feb.: CPN-UML Secretary Shankar Pokhrel has said that formation of an election council under the leadership of the Chief Justice (CJ) was against the democratic norms and
power separation, RSS reports from Buttwal..
At a news conference organized by the Press Chautari, Rupandehi, this morning, Pokhrel claimed that the head of the judiciary cannot tackle the political problems. He also accused the UCPN (Maoist) of conspiring to plunge the country into further crisis.
Saying that there would be no balance of power as the chief of the judiciary also heads the executive, he added, "Authoritarianism will emerge in absence of a body to balance and control powers."
Political leadership was needed to establish the political changes, Pokhrel said.
