UPDATE UML STANDING COMMITTEE MEETS
Kathmandu, 16 Feb.: UML standing committee began meeting Saturday afternoon to discuss an election government led by Chief Justice Khil Raj
Regmi.
The central committee meet was conclusive as members demanded resignation of the chief justice if he’s to head an election government.
The standing committee is working on an acceptable proposal on a government to succeed Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai who has been office for
more than 18 moths.
Following Friday’s objections by 11 small parties of a 21-member
ruling alliance opposing dominance of talks to form an election government by the Big Three and ruling Madesh Morcha, 14 small parties of the alliance Saturday again objected to dominance of the Big Three and Morcha.
A meeting was sponsored by the
Rastriya Sandhbhawana Party.
Alliance members also demanded a government headed by politicalparties and not the chief justice.

Inaugurating the convention of the Bhaktapur District Constituency No. 2 Committee of the CPN-UML at Balkumari of Bhaktapur today, the UML leader claimed that the people would feel relief only after the current government was toppled.
He also said that leadership of the new government would be searched from within the political parties and other options would be opted if consensus was not forged in this regard.
Oli said efforts would be made for political leadership, as formation of the new government under the leadership of nonpolitical figure would mean that political parties failed in the country.
He also urged one and all to be certain on the fresh elections by mid-June. Oli was of the opinion that the country would plunge into deep crisis if the elections were not held by mid-June.
Saying that the Maoists´ strategy to impose extremist leadership and finish off democracy was foiled, the UML leader, who is also known for his harsh criticism against the Maoists, claimed the people would unravel the Maoists´ character in the fresh elections.
On the occasion, UML central leader Rameshwor Phuyal, Chairman of the Youth Association Nepal Mahesh Basnet and other UML leaders also expressed their opinions.The convention is scheduled to elect a new leadership for two years
