COL. KUMAR LAMA BEING RELEASED ON BAIL FROM UK
PRISON
Kathmandu, 2 March 2: Army Colonel Kumar Lama, arrested 3 January in London for alleged rights abuses during a 10-year Maoist insurgency, was been granted bail
of 10,000 British pounds starling by British court on Friday.
He cannot leave the United Kingdom where his wife works as a nurse. .
A hudge at Chelmsford Crown Court ordered his release.
Col. Lama was sent to judicial custody 24 January till 10 May.
Nepal government effots to gain his freedom earlier went unheeded.
The court order is expected to be executed coming week.
Col.Lama went to meet his wife during Christmas from Sudan where he serving with the UN as a peacekeeper.
The top Nepali army officer was charged for rights by Nepal Army for rights abuses.
He was arrested in London on his 18th UK visit for which visas were issued by British authorities.
