DETAILS OF ELECTION DISCUSSIONS BETWEEN EC, PARTY LEADERS UPDATE Kathmandu, 28 March: Discussion was held between the office bearers of the Election Commission (EC) and four political parties on the issue of how to forward works related to the elections, RSS reports. The meeting held at the Election Commission today made no decision, said Spokesperson at the EC, Anil Kumar Thakur. Chief Election Commissioner, Nilkantha Upreti, Commissioners Dr. Ayodhi Prasad Yadav, Dolakh Bahadur Gurung, Ila Sharma and Ram Bhakta PB Thakur, Central member of the Nepali Congress, Bimalendra Nidhi, Central Members of the UCPN-Maoist, Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Shakti Basnet and Politburo Member, Raghuji Panta and Central Member Agni Kharel, of the CPN-UML were present in the meeting. Nnnn DETAILS OF REGMI, PRASAD MEET Kathmandu, 28 March:Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Jayant Prasad, called on Chairman of the Interim Election Council of Ministers, Khil Raj Regmi, and discussed contemporary political issues of the country at the Office of the Prime Minister at Singha Durbar today [Thursday], RSS reports, . Talking to media persons after the meeting, Ambassador Prasad said that he congratulated the new government and its members on behalf of the Government of India. He said that the Government of India was ready to provide necessary support to hold the new Constituent Assembly (CA) election. Ambassador Prasad informed Chairman Regmi that India is for free and fair elections and wants that lasting peace be established after promulgation of a new constitution. He told media that he also assured Chairman Regmi that India would provide technical and other assistance needed for the election. On the occasion, Chairman Regmi expressed gratitude for the congratulation to the new government extended by the Government of India and said that free and fair election was the first priority of the government, Press Advisor to Regmi, RP Pandey, quoted Regmi as saying. Regmi said that further discussion would be held after consultation with the EC about the technical support of India for the election. Nnnn GIRL DIES OF SELF-IMMOLATION Kathmandu, 28 March: A 13-year-oldgirl child from Dang died of first degree burns after self-immolation Wednesday in Lalitpur. She died while undergoing treatment for burns in hospital. She worked as a domestic help. nnnn
