DETAILS OF REGMI’S MEETINGS WITH AMBASSADORS UPDATE Kathmandu, 24 March: Chairman of the Interim Election Council of Ministers, Khil Raj Regmi, and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Wu Chuntai, held discussions on matters of mutual interest on Sunday, rSS reports.. The meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar, they discussed on various issues including the interim election government, support in the next Constituent Assembly (CA) elections and giving continuity to mutual relations between the two countries. On the occasion, Chinese Ambassador Wu said that Government of China is committed to providing any cooperation needed in CA elections. Mainly they discussed on support for CA election and strengthening traditional relations existing between both the countries, according to Press Coordinator to Regmi, Rajendra Prasad Pandey. Pandey said Ambassador Wu congratulated Regmi expressing positive view towards the election government formed through political consensus. Similarly, Japanese Ambassador to Nepal, Kunio Takahashi called on Chairman of the Interim Election Council of Ministers, Khil Raj Regmi. During the meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar, Japanese Ambassador Takahashi said that the Government of Japan was ready to provide any cooperation in Constituent Assembly elections. Stating that taking leadership of the country by the Chief Justice is proper at the present context, the Japanese Ambassador said they are ready to provide all types of support to the Government of Nepal and the Nepalese from the side of Government of Japan, Rajendra Prasad Pandey, Press Coordinator to Chairman Regmi, told RSS. On the occasion, Takahashi expressed happiness on consensus forged by the political parties to hold CA election within third week of June. Chairman Regmi said that he and an election government under his leadership would try to fulfill the responsibility provided by the country in time and expressed commitment to bring the country to a right political track by holding elections, said Pandey quoting Regmi. Ambassador Takahashi said that the Government of Japan is to provide assistance in Tanahun Hydropower Project with 140 MW capacity and added that repair and maintenance work of radar of Tribhuvan International Airport would be carried out within a few days. Wishing for successful tenure of Chairman Regmi, Takahashi said that he was hopeful that the existing friendly relations between the two countries would be further strengthened in the days ahead. ARMY CHIEF, CHINESE AMBASSADOR HOLD DISCUSSIONS Kathmandu, 24 March : Army Chief Gen. Gaurav Shumshere JB Rana held discussions with Chinese Ambassador Wu Chuntau Sunday. The ambassador has just taken over responsibilities. Bilateral matters, including military cooperation, were reviewed. nnnn
