ELECTION A MUST BY 21 JUNE
Kathmandu, 21 March:: Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum Nepal (Democratic) has stressed the need to hold Constituent Assembly (CA) elections before coming
June 21, RSS reports.
A two-day meeting of the party held at its central office, Sanepa, welcomed and supported the deal reached among the four major political forces including Madhesi Front on March 13 and decided to make the election happen within June 21 as per the agreement.
At a news conference organized at party central office on Thursday to make public the decisions of the meeting held on March 20 and 21, MJF-D Chairperson Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar said that all political parties should concentrate their efforts on election since it is the only way to give outlet to the country.
Noting that efforts are on to rope in other dissenting political parties in the election process, he further said the Election Commission would take final shape by Friday and the election would take place within June 18.
Decisions are yet to be made whether to go for election together with UCPN (Maoist) despite having common stance on political issues including federalism, he said, adding that they would make decision by holding consultations to that effect.
The MJF-D also concluded that the decision made in regard to updating voters' name list and granting citizenship certificate to the off-springs of citizens who acquired citizenship by birth should be implemented in line with the consensus reached among the parties.
The meeting underlined the need for all pro-federal forces to go for election in unison.
Likewise, the party also decided to hold its central committee meeting for making necessary preparation of election in Bhairahawa of Rupandehi from April 3.
