SC DEMANDS WRITTEN ANSWER WHY PREVIOUS GOVT. COULD NOT LEAD ELECTION GOVT. v Kathmandu, 17 March: In response to a writ petition filed demanding proper interpretation of its previous order on formation of election government, the Supreme Court on Sunday issued an order in the name of the defendants to appear before the court with a written response, RSS reports.. A single bench of Justice Sushila Karki issued the order asking the President, Office of the President, Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Ministry of Law, Justice, Constituent Assembly and Federal Affairs to furnish the written response on why the political parties could not lead the election government and remove difficulties for the appointments to the constitutional bodies for the election to the Constituent Assembly. On March 5, advocate Chandra Kant Gyawali had filed the petition at the SC demanding government leadership by a political leader. Earlier, his petition was rejected to be registered. Nnnn FDRA ALLIANCE FUTURE NOT THREATENED WITH CHANGE Kathmandu, 17 March: The meeting of the political parties affiliated to the Federation Democratic Republican Alliance (FDRA) on Sunday decided to continue the alliance until the coming election to the Constituent Assembly, RSS reports. At the meeting held at UCPN-Maoist's party headquarters Koteshwor, the FDRA parties discussed that it could make the alliance more comprehensive in view of the coming election. FDRA spokesperson Prem Bahadur Singh said the parties were univocal about making the alliance more effective and broader. Similarly, the meeting decided to request the government to hold the election within the first week of Asar and extend utmost help from the FDRA to this end. According to Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party Chairman Mahanth Thakur, the meeting decided to prepare a concrete work plan on handling the multifarious issues as per the changed context. At the meeting, UCPN-Maoist Chairman and FDRA coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal spoke about recent agreement among the parties, it effects in the national politics, and future work plan. The leaders of the parties in the coalition stressed on striving for more than two third votes through the coming election.
