STRIKE AFFECTS 7.5 MILLION SCHOOL STUDENTS Kathmandu, 3 March : All educational institutions remain closed across the nation today due to the dispute between school proprietors and students unions over the establishment of students´ union in the schools, ESS reports.. As a result, around 7.5 million students of private and public schools across the nation have been affected due to the educational strike called by the Association for Private Educational of Nepal (APEN), a network of private educational institutions. The APEN called the educational strike in protest against the arson carried out to a college bus of Golden Gate recently allegedly by the All Nepal National Independent Students Union (ANNISU)-Revolutionary and donation terror and threat at various educational institutions. Vice-chairman of Higher Secondary Schools Association-Nepal, Ramesh Shilwal, said that the strike was called in protest against the ongoing donation terror and threat on private schools and against the Guidelines of the Educational Directorate. He said they were compelled to call the educational strike also against the different malpractices including pressure to open students unions and padlocking of schools by putting forth various undue demands. Nnnn HUSBAND KILLS WIFE Kathmandu, 3 March: A person has murdered his wife at Bharatpur in Chitwan district on Sunday morning, RSS reports from Chitwan. Mohan BK living in a rented house at Bharatpur Municipality-13 killed his wife Maya by attacking with a lumber following a dispute. An eyewitness said that Maya died on the spot in the incident. Mohan has been absconding after the incident and a search is underway to nab him, according to the District Police Office, Chitwan. Nnnn DHADINGBESHI TENSE Kathmandu, 3 March: More than ten persons were injured in a clash that took place with police in course of the district headquarters bandh called by the Nepal Students Union (NSU) in protest against the alleged attack on two of its members here on Sunday, RSS reports from Dhading. . Nepali Congress and NSU cadres clashed with police after they barged into the venue of the seventh district convention of CPN-UML Dhading, chanting slogans and resorting to indiscriminate assault at Puchar bazaar. On the occasion, the NC cadres vandalized four vehicles and four motorcycles used by the UML cadres and also tried to set them on fire, according to CPN-UML. The Congress cadres also vandalized the Hotel Jibika and Hukka Bar, where the UML cadres were taking shelter for the convention. In response to the alleged vandalism by the NC cadres, the UML also took out a demonstration. Police intervened and injured UML cadre Tola Kumar Pathak and Mayan Sharma in the process. The bandh was called by the NSU in protest against the alleged attack on its members Sri Krishna Bhandari and Newton Shrestha. They blamed the UML of providing protection to those involved in the attack. The Congress cadres took out a procession that passed through the bazaar to make the bandh a success. Police fired around a dozen tear gas shells to disperse the crowd and also seized the Khukuri and swords carried by the demonstrators. The bazaar still remains tensed and additional police force has been mobilized to avoid and further clash between the two sides. Nnnn CPN-MAOIST LEADER CHAND ISSUES ANOTHER WARNING Kathmandu, 3 March 3: Secretary of the CPN-Maoist Netra Bikram Chand has said that the country could be pushed to a mess if the Chief Justice-led government was formed, RSS reports.. At a news conference organised by the Revolutionary Journalists´ Association, Kaski, here today, Chand blamed that the major political parties are trying to adopt a wrong process. He said election to the Constituency Assembly could be held by mid-June if all the political parties become honest for the same. Nnnn
