UML STANDING COMMITTEE MEET STARTS Kathmandu, 27 March: A meeting of UML standing committee started Wednesday. .The meeting was abruptly cancelled without taking up agenda issues last week as Madhav Kumar Nepal opposed the proposed appointment of former chief secretary of the royal regime Lokman Singh Karki to CIAA chief. Some leaders in NC and UML have described Singh as ‘tainted’ even as top leaders=-- NC President =Sushil Koirala and UML’s Chairman Jhalanath Khanal and Vice-chairman Bamdev Gautam okayed proposals for Karki’s appointment by Maoists and Madeshbadi parties at a high-level mechanism of four parties. The body is directing government of Khil Raj Regmi.
