BIRD FLU IN KAILALI
Kathmandu, 16 April Bird flu, restricted to central, western and the eastern regions, has been detected in the fari-West in Kailali.
The disease was detected at a farm in Gadariya VDC of Kailali on Wednesday.
Dr Binaya Kumar Karna of District Veterinary Office has confirmed bird flu in a poultry farm of Deep Lal Chaudhari in Samchaura, Gadariya VDC.
Earlier Chaudhari had sent dead chickens to District Veterinary Office on suspicion of outbreak caused by the (H5N1) virus and .
confirmed by the Central Animal Disease Research Laboratory confirmed the bird flu virus.

NRCS OBSERVES GOLDEN JUBILEE
Kathmandu, 17 April: President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav inaugurated the golden jubilee and the 42nd Central General Convention of the Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS), today [Wednesday], RSS reports..
The then Health Ministry had established Nepal Red Cross Society on Bhadau 19, 2020 BS (September 4 , 1963) which is now working in favor of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, voluntary service, independence, unity and universality, the seven basic principles of Red Cross.
For helping communities in humanitarian crises, the NRCS has managed 12 go downs and provided food grains to 36, 000 families during disaster.
Addressing the function, President Dr. Yadav said the Red Cross has been able to win the hearts of all in humanitarian service and called on all to provide selfless service to make it stronger.
Red Cross service is excellent in giving first relief to disaster victims, precaution, ambulance service, and blood transfusion, the President said.
The president also released a souvenir of the Red Cross Society. Speaking on the occasion, Health Minister Bidyadhar Mallik said the NRCS has been extending cooperation to achieve the millennium development goals and that its services are laudable.
Society Chairman Sanjiv Thapa said NRCS has been extending its services to each and every houses.
The NRCS branches in districts have some 1.1 million members and they are engaged in relief distribution during disasters. ICRC Nepal Representative Ritva Lahti informed that cooperation would be increased for NRCS.
ICRC Asian Pacific Regional Office Director Jagan Chapagain said Red Cross has a paramount role in disaster precaution and management, whereas General Secretary of NRCS Devratna Dhakhwa said the volunteers were the strength of the NRCS.
The two-day general convention is participated in by District Red Cross Society representatives.

NEPAL IN SEOUL EXPO
Kathmandu, 17 April The Embassy of Nepal in South Korea participated in the 11th Daegu Gyengbuk Tour Expo 2013 held at Gyeongju World Culture Expo Park in Seoul from April 11- 14, 2013, with an objective of promoting Nepal in Korea, RSS reports..
During the Tour Expo, the Nepali booth was decorated with colorful banners and posters, depicting various tourism products, and that promotional materials were distributed and was visited by many local and foreign visitors.
The local tour and travel operators also visited the Nepal booth and took keen interest in Nepalese tourism products.
The tour expo was held in Gyeongju, a popular tourism destination of Korea, which is enchanting with scenic beauty and blooming cherry flowers.
Various countries presented cultural performance and culinary where Nepalese food items were also served.
The Expo organized by Daegu Metropolitan City was sponsored by Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Korean Air, among others, and participated in by 34 countries.
