BURDGET FOR REMAINING THREE MONTHS TUESDAY Kathmandu, 8 April: Finance Minister Shanker Koirala is presenting a budget for the remaining three months of the current fiscal year 2012/13 Tuesday, finance ministry official said Monday. The budget estimated ar Rs.400 billion won’t contain new tax proposals or plans and programmes. The previous government of Baburam Bhattarai presented a budget for nine onths only amid differences on government formation when parliament was in session. Nnnn . SUPREME COURT BENCH BEGINS HEARING ON WRITS SEEKING DISSOLUTION OF GOVT. Kathmandu, 8 April; A single bench of Supreme Court Justice Sushila Karki Monday issued a show cause notice against approval of the ordinance on removing constitutional difficulties and formation of the Interim Election Council. The bench issued the notice after hearings on two separate writs and asked the president´s office and the office of the Interim Election Council to respond. The SC asked petitioners and the defendants for a 25 discussions on whether the apex court should issue an interim order.annulling the president´s order on removing constitutional difficulties and dismissing the that the Interim Election Council headed by Khil Raj Regmi. The petitioners asked for formation of a national consensus government. The president´s office, the office of the Interim Election Council, the Ministry of Law and Justice, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala, CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal and leader of United Democratic Madhesi Front Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar ate the defendants in the writ petitions. Nnnn AUSTRALIAN AMBASSADOR’S FAREWELL CALL ON GOVT. CHIEF REGMI Kathmandu, 8 April: Australian Ambassador to Nepal, Susan Grace paid a farewell call on Chairman of the Interim Election Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi on Monday. During the meeting, issues relating to bilateral assistance and the upcoming constituent assembly elections were discussed. Outgoing Ambassador Grace said Australia was ready to extend help to Nepal for the elections. On the occasion, Chairman Regmi said present government was determined to hold CA election in a free and fair atmosphere, according to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. Similarly, he expressed gratitude to Australia for her assistance to Nepal and hoped that the assistance would continue in future as well. Ms Grace is returning home upon completion of her tenure in Nepal. Nnnn
