DETERMINED TO CONDUCT POLLS SAYS CHAIRMAN REGMI Kathmandu, 27 April: Chairman of the interim election Council of Ministers, Khil Raj Regmi, has said that the government was committed to holding the Constituent Assembly, RSS reports.. Addressing the 52nd anniversary celebration of the Ratna Rajya Higher Secondary School in the capital on Saturday, Chairman Regmi urged one and all to work actively to make the CA election a success and contribute to nation-building. "The CA election would be meaningful once it had the representations of all castes, cultures, regions, religions and genders of the country," he said, adding that stability was essential to give political outlet to the country. According to him, education plays important role for the socioeconomic development of the country, and it needs modernization with quality. He assured that government would pay attention on developing physical infrastructures for the educational development. Similarly, Chief Election Commissioner Neel Kanth Uprety said the country was in need of stability for holding the CA election in a fear-free atmosphere. Kathmandu District Education Officer Baikuntha Aryal said the stakeholders should heed to ensure quality in education. Management Committee Member of the School, Mahesh Kharel, said the Committee was committed to elevating the school as a model school. The school set up in 2018 BS has some 2,000 students. Nnnn RUKUM CROP DAMAGE Kathmandu, 27 April: The hailstone occurred on Friday evening damaged winter crops in more than a dozen VDCs in The district, RSS reports from Rukum.. The wheat and vegetables in Athabisdandagaon, Athbiskot, Duli, Magma, Jhula, Banphikot, Pipal, Pokhara, Pwang were badly damaged with the hailstone, said locals. Even the leguminous plats were caused damage. The locals further said especially the mountainous areas witnessed heavy hailstone causing more damages. Tirkha Lal Gharti from Athabisdanda said the wheat and vegetables in the mountainous areas were completely destroyed. Moreover, the storm blew away the roofs of many houses and schools, said the District Police Office, adding, it was garnering detailed information from different parts of the district. nnnn
