MAOIST CHIEF’S CHINA VISIT SIGNIFICANT SAYS PARTY SPOKESMAN Kathmandu, 13 April:: Spokesperson for UCPN-Maoist Agni Prasad Sapkota has said that party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal's visit to China from tomorrow would be significant, RSS reports.. Speaking at a regular press meet organised at the party central office, Koteshwor, today, Sapkota said the party Chairman's visit to northern neighbor would focus on strengthening the trilateral (Nepal-China-India) relations. Besides, during the visit, leader Dahal is scheduled to hold talks about the economic and political matters with senior Chinese officials. An agreement was forged among the major political parties to hold fresh election to the Constituent Assembly within June, he said and accused the CPN (UML) and the Nepali Congress of intending to put off the election, realizing that the UCPN (Maoist) has started getting the public support. "The incumbent government is concentrated on the daily activities rather the election and it has led to fomenting doubts that election would not be held in time", the UCPN (Maoist) spokesman said, adding that the Election Commission and the government made a delay in announcing the date for election presenting the technical causes. nnnn 100 HOUSES DESTROYED IN RAUTAHAT FIRE Kathmandu, 13 April: : Around 100 houses were gutted by fire in Rautahat district, Saturday, RSS reports from Rautahat.. Goods including clothes, food, gold and silver jewelry, and cash, including other articles worth around tens of millions of rupees were gutted in the fire at Basbiti Jigadiya VDC Ward No 8 and 9, and at Ward No 3 and 4 of Raghunathpur VDC of the district, police stated. The fire started from around 3:00 pm could not be brought under control till evening as the fire was fanned by high winds. Local people, Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force worked for hours to bring the fire under control. Details on the losses caused by the inferno has yet to be ascertained, said Krishna Pyara Kharel, Deputy Superintendent of Police, at the District Police Office, Rautahut. Meanwhile five houses and four cow-sheds caught fire in Harnamani VDC in Makawanpur district on Saturday evening. In the incident, property worth around Rs. 1.75 was gutted, said Police Inspector Nirmal Thapa. Locals and police personnel brought the fire under control with the help of a fire-engine after four hours, stated police.
