PRACHANDA BEGINS TALKS WITH NEW CHINESE LEADERSHIP WEDNESDAY Kathmandu, 17 April:” Maoist Chairman Prachanda begins talks with the new elected Chinese leadership in Beijing Wednesday. He reached the Chnesse capital Tuesday night from central China. Prachanda is scheduled to have talks Wednesday/Thursday with party and government leaders following an invite from the Communist Party of China. He returns home Saturday to proceed to New Delhi for talks with Indian leaders in New Delhi. Nnnn NC ADIVASI, JANAJATI LEADERS TO MEET PRESIDENT KOIRALA Kathmandu, 17 April: Janatati and advisai leaders of NC are holding discussions with President Sishil Koirala Wednesday to pres their demands for a federal ethnic structure and present a memorandum. The party couldn’t finalize its policy on the issues Even at t6he just concluded meeting of the mahasimiti. The party signed a 12-point agreement agreeing to break up a unitary state wth Maoists and other democratic parties without discussof the new state structure. A constitution couldn’t be writted and even now there is no agreement on a state structure/ The mahasimiti formed a nine-member task force under Vice-president Ram Candra Paudel to fine tune his political concept presented at the Nawalparasi meet last mnth. The party has now decided to discuss a final politicreport taking the document to grasroot district level. NC formed a committee under late Bhim Bahadur Tamang to to discuss a a federal structure when a sssplit was threatened with calls for a federal ethnic structure. A major split was avoided even as the establishment opted for a federal structure rejecting demands of a state structure based on etnicity. nnnn
