PROTESTORS PREVENT ENTRY OF VEHICLES INTO VALLEY Kathmandu, 22 April: Police have arrested 11 persons for obstructing vehicles' entry to the capital city from Nagdhunga this [Monday] morning, RSS reports from Kirtipur.. The arrested have been kept at the Metropolitan Police Sector, Thankot. The locals of Badbhanjyang called a chakka jam for two hours from 8 am this morning protesting the operation of a Pitch Plant Factory. The locals have been protesting the operation of the factory saying that it would add to pollution in the area. Locals and police clashed after the locals gathered to obstruct the vehicles' entry in the capital city. Nnnn WOMAN MISSING IN BUS WASHED AWAY BY FLOOD Kathmandu, 22 April: A woman traveling in a bus has gone missing in Sarlahi. A bus with more than 50 passengers was swept away by the flooded Kalinjor Khola at Bohore in Parawanipur VDC, Sarlahi Saturday. The flood followed heavy rain. Nnnn BHUTANESE REFUGEE DEATH SPARKS PROTEST DAMAK: Tension ran high today at the Beldangi Refugee Camp in Damak, Jhapa, following a demonstration of the camp residents over the death of a member of their community and subsequent clash with the police. The death of 50-year-old Muktinath Sanyasi of the Bhutanese refugee camp number-2, Sector I, sparked widespread demonstration in Damak. Suspecting the case a murder, Muktinath’s kin and neighbours had staged a protest march in the morning. Meanwhile, police on its part said that Sanyasi was found hanging a day after he was detained and taken to the office of a locally-formed camp security group on Saturday evening. He was held on charges of stealing a mobile set from a house in Beldangi Camp number-3. Later, the demonstration had turned into a clash as police moved into action to contain the demonstrators. The protestors, police said, started vandalising offices of the Camp Management Committee and security group’s offices. Police had to lob two tear gas canisters to take the situation under control. Police have detained five persons for their involvement in the incident, and increased their vigilance at the camp site. According to the witnesses, they saw the security group members thrashing the man while herding Sanyasi to the office. Area Police Office Damak Inspector Hari Khatiwada said investigation into the incident is underway. Nnnn ISRAEL EMBASSY DETAINS ’SUSPICIOUS’ IRANIAN Kathmandu, 22 April: It has been revealed that the security personnel at the Israeli Embassy in Kathmandu recently arrested an Iranian national, allegedly doing suspicious activities outside the facility, and handed over to the policem The Himalayan Times reports.. The Annapurna Post vernancular daily reported on Sunday that the arrest was made on April 13. Identified as Mohsin Khosravian, the suspect is currently in police custody. The security officials at the Embassy speculated that the suspect was scouting the facility with a harmful intention for he carried a tourist map of the Lazimpat area where the Israeli mission is located. He had stayed in a Thamel-based hotel. After his arrest, the suspect told police that he had ventured out to find out a shop to repair his laptop. According to the report, the Nepal Police's Central Bureau of Investigation and Special Bureau have launched investigation into his activities and possible terrorist links in the wake of his frequent and suspicious visits to the Israeli Embassy area. Moreover, it has been revealed that the suspect hid his Iranian passport (P 95434382) and used a fake Israeli passport (14517227)-- issued in the name of Alexander -- to get the 'on arrival' visa at the Tribhuvan International Airport on April 3. He is said to be living in Bangkok since 2004 and married to a Thai woman for five years. The incident came into the limelight after his wife and two of his Iranian relatives arrived in Kathmandu from Bangkok on Friday to meet him. Mohsin has maintained that after facing loss in his garment business he entered Nepal with an aim to go to Europe to seek asylum there. Investigation has found out that he had used his original passport to enter Malaysia on March 31. He apparently acquired the fake Israeli passport in Kuala Lumpur. He had recently visited Sri Lanka also. According to the records at Kathmandu District Administration, Mohsin has been charged under the Public Offence Act. On the same day of his arrest, he was remanded in custody for investigation. His wife and relatives met him at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Maharajgunj on Friday. Deputy Inspector General Kesh Bahadur Shahi, the chief of CIB, said no information can be provided regarding Mohsin for now. Iran and Israel have bitter relations. On February 13, 2012, bombs were simultaneously detonated at the Israeli missions in New Delhi, India and Tbilisi, Georgia. Israel has been pointing its finger at Iran for the attacks. nnnn
