SUPREME COURTORDER STAYS GOVT. DOLE TO FORMER FIGHTERS
Kathmandu, 26 April: A division bench of the supreme court Friday
directed government to make laws to distribute Rs 200,000 government to every former disqualified Maoist combatant.
The previous government of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai took a
decision for a blanket disbursement of government funds for
fighters disqualified by UNMIN amid threats of protests by former guerrilla fighters.
A division bench of Justices Ram Kumar Shah and Gyanendra Bahadur
Karki issued the directive.
Advocates Biswas Acharya, Bimala Bartaula and Radha Sigdel last
November challenged the Bhattarai government decision.
