for elections, Rameshwor Karki writs in Republica from Dhading..
Dahal said that the present government has come under suspicions for dillydallying in announcing election date even three weeks after the formation of the government.
"We quit the government with a plan to hold elections by mid-April but the present government is conspiring against the election," Dahal said while addressing the party´s mass gathering organized here at Dharke on Saturday. "There is something wrong with the government´s motive."
He also came down heavily on the election commissioners accusing them of changing their voice after assuming the office. He said that the commissioners, prior to their appointment, had committed to hold elections within 76 days after assuming office. "But once they were appointed, the same commissioners said that it was not possible to hold election by April," said Dahal.
Dahal criticized the government for waiting the Election Commission´s approval for fixing the date. He said it is the government leadership that should announce the poll date and the election commission should be compelled to complete all the preparatory works as per the government decision.
"There is hidden interest behind deferral of the election," he said adding that he wouldn´t further criticize the government since it was his own proposal to form the election government under the leadership of sitting Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi.
Claiming that UCPN (Maoist) is going to secure two-thirds majority if the election is held by April and he said leaders from Nepali Congress and CPN-UML were trying to defer polls sensing victory of the UCPN (Maoist).
He said that NC leaders are hesitating to face elections as the party´s very existence is under serious question following the end of monarchy and the UML has also been gradually losing its strength in recent times.
He also announced that the election will not take place by mid-December if it is not conducted by June. He said that no one has authority to announce election date for December. He announced in the mass gathering that election in December was not acceptable for his party.
He said so despite that the 11-point political agreement signed by him has stated that elections will be held in November-December if it is not possible in April-June.
