In Nepal, Carter who operates Carter Center without formal government permission expressed a wish to monitor constituent assembly elections iu talks with senior officials spread over four days.. nnnn SCOUT JAMBOREE AFTER 26 TERS Kathmandu, 1 April: After a gap of 26 long years, Nepal Scout is all set to hold its national jamboree from April 10-16 in Chitwan, The Rising Nepal reports from Chitwan.. Nepal Scout had held its first national level jamboree at Kritipur in 1987 (2043 B.S). during the Panchayat rule in the nation. The organizing committee informed that a total of 5,000 scout members, including 500 foreigners, will take part in the jamboree. During the press meet organized here on Sunday, the organizing committee said that the jamboree would be held at Tikauli playground of Ratnanagar. Chief Commissioner of Nepal Scout, Shree Ram Lamichhane, informed that the jamboree is being organized after a hiatus of 26 years. According to him, 18 scout members from Malaysia, five from Finland, one from Japan and two from America have already confirmed their participation. He informed that the members of all South Asian countries, except for Afghanistan, will take part in the jamboree. Nepal Scout has its branches in 64 districts. The members from all district branches will take part in the event, he added. The committee has estimated that a total of Rs.10 million will be spent for organizing the jamboree, which will take place for a period of six days. The organiser informed that a total of Rs.2, 000,000 has already been spent for procuring tents and other logistics to hold jamboree. Commissioner Lamichhane said they have urged Nepal Army, Armed Police and Nepal Police of Chitwan and Makwanpur for providing tents. "These institutions have responded to out request positively," he added. He has also expected that the jamboree, to be organized at an area of 100,000 square feet at Tikauli playground, .will be a success. During the jamboree, the participants will avail of good accommodation, market, bank, post office, media house, email-internet, drinking water and electricity, cleanliness management toilet, bathroom, parking, camp-site, photo exhibition, jamboree office., health center and scout materials selling room facilities. The preparation to hold the jamboree in a great manner has already begun at Ratnanagar. The preparation for the jamboree has given a totally new look to the Tikuli playground, locals said. During the press meet, the organiser informed that the rock climbing, hiking and road biking would be the major attraction of jamboree. During the jamboree, the scout members will be trained on swimming, fishing, rafting and life saving skills at the nearby river. Lamichhane informed that during the whole programme, the scout members would be taught the skill of developing a sense of scout fraternity and brotherhood. Various forms of arts, handicrafts, dance and music competition would also be organised, he added. Nepal Scout that was established in 1952 has about 49,833 members across the country.
