WRIT AT SUPREME COURT SEEKS POLL DATE ONLY AFTER DETERMINING ELECTORAL CONSTITUENCIES Kathmandu, 2 April: A writ petition has been registered at the Supreme Court on Tuesday, demanding announcement of the date for election only after the delineation of electoral constituencies. Rajlal Mandal on behalf of Jaya Prakash Prasad Gupta, filed a writ at the apex court, demanding that the date for new Constituent Assembly election not be announced without fixing the electoral constituencies. As per the constitutional provisions, after the census, the electoral constituency delineation commission should be formed for the re-delimitation of constituencies before announcing the date for election, the writ states. The writ has sought halt of all election-related activities being carried out by the Office of President, Council of Ministers, a high-level political mechanism and the Election Commission through an issuance of an interim order, naming them as the 'defendants'. Nnnn 20 INJUREDIN DANG ACCIDENT Kathmandu, 2 April: At last 20 persons were injured in a a bus and -truck collision on the Ghorahi-Lamahi in Dang Tuesday afternoon. The bus was going to Butwal from Tulsipur and the truck was heading for Ghorahi from Lamahi. Two among the injured are serious. Nnnn collided head-on-each other nearby Kuhirepaani, Laxmipur-1. Among the injured, truck driver Shanker Lal Chawdhary of Sishaniya-2 has sustained critical injuries, district police office, Dang, informed. Other injured have been identified as Shanta Pun of Laxmipur-2, Durga Gharti of Rampur-4, Krishna Khanal of Kapilvastu, Puni Gharti of Purandhar-4, Dang, Shanta Nepali of Laxmipur, Goma Poudel of Soudiyaar, Shanta Chantyal of Shantinagar and Parvati Pun.
