CURFEW SLAPPED IN BAJURA DISTRICT HEADQUARTERS Kathmandu, 7 May: A 15- hour curfew was slapped on Bajura district headquarters from three in the afternoon Tuesday following violence and clashes between locals and police. Nnnn DETAILS OF BJAURA VIOLENCE Kathmandu, 7 May: Thirteen people have been injured along with District Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the clashes that took place Tuesday afternoon between local agitators who were out to close the District Administration Office, and the police, RSS reports from Bajura. The injured are being treated at District Hospital, Martadi.The people of Bajura are agitated for the past three days saying the tender of the Bailey bridge of the Sanfe- Martadi Road Section was annulled by the Ministry of Physical Planning and Works. NC leader and coordinator of the movement, Padam Baduwal said police used force in a peaceful rally in connection with their closing of all government offices of the district during agitation. In the clash, camera belonging to vice chairman of the FNJ, Bajura, Gagan Airi has been broken and he has got hurt. Also injured are two children. CDO Bhumiswor Pandey said DSP Janakraj Pandey has been hurt on the hand, and the DAO office main gate has been vandalized. Police fired ten rounds of tear gas and agitators are taking out processions in the Bazaar and all offices including DAO are closed. They were angered as the Sanfe-Martadi road of which the foundation stone was laid 18 years ago could not reach Martadi yet and the tender was canceled. Dozens of students fainted as police fired tear gas cells near the Badimalika Boarding School. The condition of district headquarters Martadi has been tense. Agitation will be further intensified if the demands are not fulfilled, said UML District Committee Deputy Secretary, Gagan Rawal. The movement is led by UCPN-Maoist, NC, CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist, among other parties. nnnn
