GORKHAPATRA JOURNALIST KILLED AFTER ACCIDENT
Kathmandu, 29 May: Former president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Bara chapter, Binod Pyakurel, has died in a road accident, RSS reports from Bara. .
Pyakurel who sustained serious injuries after being hit by a Tata Sumo vehicle at Jeetpur on the Birgunj-Pathalaiya road section on Tuesday died on the way to Kathmandu. He was rushed to Birgunj for treatment. Pyakurel suffered serious injuries to his head.
Pyakurel was the Bara district correspondent for the Gorakhapatra National Daily and the Terai Television (TTV).
The driver of the Tata Sumo has been arrested in this connection, police said.

189 PERSONS ON HONOUR LIST ON REPUBLIC DAY
KAthmandu, 29 May: President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has presented different decorations, titles, and medals on the occasion of the Republic Day to 189 different personalities for their contribution in different sectorsm RSS reports..
According to Under Secretary at the Office of the President Surya Prasad Aryal, six persons have been honoured with the Manpadavi Sukrtimaya Rastradeep, 60 with Suprabal Janasewashree, and 74 with the Prabal Janasewashree.
Similarly, 16 persons won the Janasewashree.
Likewise, Alankar Nepal Pratav Subhushan has been awarded to six persons, Nepal Pratap Abhushan and Samajsewa Ratna to two each.
Furthermore, Mahapaurakh Bhaskar has been given to one and Nepal Pratap Bhushan to two persons.
The Office of the President said that two persons have been given Samajsewa Medal, Sukriti Medal to seven, Birata Medal to five and Saurya, Prakritik Prakop Piditoddhar and Bikas Ratna Medal to two each.
